Avengers Iron Man. Iron Man was created in collaboration between several writers and artists. Stan Lee invented stories, Larry Lieber elaborated, Don Heck did much of the drawing, especially in the Iron Man comics, and gave the first characters, including Tony Stark himself, their appearance, and Jack Kirby designed the cover of a comic strip. Additionally, he invented Iron Man's armor.

Iron Man made his appearance in comics, usually 13, but sometimes also 18 pages long. Like the other comics in Tales of Suspense, his comics often revolved around science fiction and supernatural themes. In issue 40, Iron Man's previous gray armor was replaced with gold armor, and in issue 48 he wore his famous red and gold suit for the first time. Beginning with issue #59 (November 1964), Iron Man began sharing his place in Tales of Suspense with Captain America. In March 1968, 99 issues of the comic strip "Tales of Suspense" were completely renamed Captain America. Iron Man made another appearance here. In May 1968, Iron Man got his own comic book series starting with Iron Man issue #1.

Iron Man was originally intended as an anti-communist hero. In the various comic series where Iron Man was central, progress and national security themes were the focus. Gradually changed this means Stark turned into a more complex character.

Writers often use Iron Man as a symbol of creativity, but also of weaknesses. He is often depicted along with Captain America and Thor as the "Big Three" of the Retaliators.

For most of his career, Iron Man has been a member of the superhero group the Avengers.
